Tennis Ball Recycling Program

What is the eKiwanis Tennis Ball Recycling Program?

eKiwanis of Greater Chicago is proud to partner with Recycle Balls and local Chicagoland Tennis Clubs to recycle used tennis balls.

Why the eKiwanis Tennis Ball Recycling Program?

125 million tennis balls go to landfills each year, which equates to 20,000 metric tons of methane-producing, near non-decomposable waste each year. On average it takes a tennis ball 400 years to decompose!

Through our recycling program we hope to lessen the number of tennis balls going to landfills each year and recycle tennis balls into new tennis courts and other recyclable products.

How does the Recycling Program Work?

eKiwanis is proud to partner with McFetridge Sports Center, Tam Tennis Club, and Midtown Athletic Club in Palatine to place tennis ball recycling bins at these clubs. When the bins are full, eKiwanis ships them to our partner Recycle Balls. Recycle Balls then uses a machine to take the felt off of the tennis balls and makes new tennis courts and other recyclable products. Learn more about the Recycling Process Here!
