Overview of eKiwanis
The eKiwanis Club is a local service organization comprised of a variety of individuals who believe in taking a leadership role in helping children and enhancing the community in which we live
Internet-based club affiliated with Kiwanis International
All communication accomplished via the Internet through our website, mailing lists, and via web conferencing (video and conference calls)
Provides opportunities for hands-on community service in the Chicagoland area, to meet new friends, and to hone your leadership skills
Kiwanis Service
Service is at the heart of every Kiwanis club, no matter where in the world it’s located. Members stage approximately 150,000 service projects and raise nearly US$100 million every year for communities, families, and projects. By working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone.
Our Kiwanis club focuses on changing the world by serving children, one child in our community at a time. Each year, we perform more than 1,000 hours of volunteer service in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. We have service projects year-round! Learn more about our impact here.

Feed My Starving Children is a Christian organization committed to "Feeding God's Starving Children Hungry in Body and Spirit."
This is a warehouse setting, and closed toe shoes are required. Also, no jewelry except wedding bands is allowed.

We assist in the Food Market of the People's Resource Center. The Food Market is where clients receive groceries. It is set up like a grocery store and the clients can "shop" for their food. We sort food, stock shelves, and assist clients with selecting their items.
Requirements:
You are 13+ yrs old
You can stand for 3 hours and lift 25lbs (3gal of water)
You are willing and able to help where needed in the pantry each time you volunteer
You enjoy working both indoors and outdoors
Please dress comfortably and casually. Jeans and gym shoes are fine. It can get a little cold in the food pantry in the winter, so please dress accordingly.
Please do not park in the parking lot directly outside of the building. Street parking is available.

Car Seat Project with Carol Stream Police Department

We are partnering with Carol Stream Police Department during Safety Saturday, a state-wide car seat check event!
About the event: Child passenger safety technicians will be at car seat check locations checking that children are in the correct car seats and that they are installed correctly. All families are welcomed to come out to the event.
eKiwanis will be donating car seats for the Carol Stream Police Department's Safety Saturday. The car seats will be given to kids who are in need of replacement car seats. Safety technicians will be installing the car seats at the event
We will be at the event passing out snack baggies for the kids. The snack bags will be branded with eKiwanis and will include a flyer about eK for the parents.

Volunteers are needed to help hand out water, t-shirts, food, etc.

We will be hosting a Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament with Rockford Charitable Games Association.

Potential shifts below. We'd like 2 people present the entire time, but only 1 is required. We can split the time however we want.
12:30 PM - 4:00 PM
4:00 PM - 7:30 PM
7:30 PM - 11:00 PM
11:00 PM - 2:00 AM
Someone working the first shift will have to arrive by 12:15 with forms and a check from Charlie.
The eKiwanis is the operator of the event, the others present are consultants. As such, we have to be present at all times.
We can sell chips when people come in and cash them out when they leave. Or we can just be there. Rockford Charity does the majority of the work, we are just there to be the hosting charity.
